MANILA, Philippines – The October 2022 Optometry licensure exam results, including the complete list of board passers, top 10 examinees, and overall performance of schools, are expected to be released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Optometry in 2-3 working days after the last day of exams.
The Licensure Exam for Optometrists was conducted on October 23-31, 2022 (Written and Practical) at testing centers located in the National Capital Region. The licensure examinations are administered by the PRC Board of Optometry headed by its Chairman, Dr. Bernardita A. Garcia, and its members, Dr. Irene Christine C. Peliño and Dr. Mario T. Flores, Jr.

Release of Results
The October 2022 Optometry board exam results and list of passers are expected to be released on or before November 7, 2022, 2-3 working days after the administration of exams, referenced to PRC Resolution No. 1439 series of 2021. Congratulations in advance to the new Licensed Professional Optometrists!
PRC added that successful examinees shall personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.
Ratings
The verification of ratings and test results for the Optometry licensure exams will be available online few working days after the posting of results.
Successful takers can refer to PRC official website and use the Verification Page to know their board examination passing rate.
As posted, a passer shall only provide the exam name, the date of examination, the application number, first name and last name and the birth-date.
Oath-Taking
The newly licensed Optometrists’ oath-taking ceremony will be done online, now referred to as the “e-oath.” The application system for the e-oath can be accessed online via PRC dedicated portal at and select “e-OATH” as a transaction.
Inductees are required to print the “OATH OF PROFESSIONAL” form that is downloadable at the PRC Online Services.
Meanwhile, PRC has started scheduling face-to-face oath-taking for newly licensed professionals. This section will be updated should PRC conduct face-to-face oathtaking for new optometrists.
Examination Coverage
The board exam for Optometrist (written) covered the following topics:
- Ocular Pharmacology 10%;
- Ocular/Visual Biology 10%;
- Primary Care and Refraction 15%;
- Practical, Theoretical and Opthalmic Dispensing including Contact Lenses 15%;
- Ocular Diseases and Ocular Emergencies 10%;
- Jurisprudence, Ethics and Practice Management 10%;
- Physiological Optics, Binocular Vision and Perception 15%;
- Clinical Optometry and Specialty Areas in Optometry 15%.
Meanwhile, practical tests include objective examination, subjective examination, ophthalmic lens laboratory, clinical optometry, and contact lens practice.
Previous Exams
Optometry is one of the programs with less number of examinees being administered by PRC.
In the previous Optometrists licensure exams held on July 2019, 260 out of 295 examinees passed. Gretha Mangahas Pabustan from Centro Escolar University – Manila was the topnotcher garnering 80.29%, followed by Ryan Benzon Seng Caligner from Davao Doctors College, Inc., 88.16%. Centro Escolar University – Manila was the top-performing school having a 90.91% rating.
On July 2018 exams, 188 out of 222 examinees passed. Morel Paul Sumaoang Abesamis from Manila Central University – Caloocan City ranked first in the exams garnering a rating of 87.23% followed by Marinella Sunga Ramos from Centro Escolar University – Manila having 86.35%. Centro Escolar University – Manila was the lone school in the top performing schools list having 82 out of 94 examinees passed or 87.23% overall passing rate.
