Fisheries Scholarship Program 2024 Are Open Apply Now

This is absolutely true, hence, we can’t deny how difficult it is to finance your study nowadays especially in these times of ceaseless pandemic.

But poverty should not hinder you from going to school or striving the dream that you want. Gladly, several scholarships are being offered by different schools, organizations, banks, or even abroad provided that you meet their eligibilities and qualifications.

Now, do you want to be one of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) scholar for the school year 2024-2027? This might be your chance to apply for their Fisheries Scholarship Program and pursue Bachelor of Science in Fisheries. The said scholarship is divided into three components which include: Fisheries Industry Leadership Grant (FILG)Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG), and FSP Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous People (FSP-ICC-IP).

1. For Fisheries Industry Leadership Grant (FILG)

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS?

  • Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen
  • Any high school graduate or graduating student
  • Not more than 25 years old at the time of the examination, who has not earned any units in college
  • Who belongs to the TOP TEN of his/her graduating class, duly certified by the school head/principal
  • For high school graduate applicants who completed their high school under the old curriculum, the general weighted average (GWA) shall not be lower than 80%.
  • For graduating students GWA of the last three immediate preceding semesters of his/her Senior High School in any Track shall not be lower than 80% or its equivalent
  • Of good moral character as certified by the school head
  • Parent(s)/guardian or the applicant must be physically residing the municipality of the region for at least  six (6) months, where the slot of the scholarship program is allotted

WHAT ARE NECESSARY DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS?

  • Dully accomplished and signed FSP Application From for the FILG: 
  • Original or Certified True Copy of Birth Certificate issued (issued either by PSA (formerly NSO) or Civil Registrar)
  • Certified True Copy of Report Card Form 138 or 137 (GWA of last 3 semester of Senior High School is at least 80%)
  • Certification from the school head that the applicant belongs to the TOP TEN of the graduating class
  • Certification of good moral character from the school registrar
  • Two (2) recent 2×2 pictures taken within the last three (3) months prior to filing of application, colored with white background
  • Barangay/Residence Certificate

2. For Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG)

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS?

  • Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen
  • Any Senior High School graduate or graduating student whose parent(s) or guardian is a registered Fisherfolk (Fish-R/Mangingisdang Juan)
  • Not more than 25 years old at the time of the examination, who has not earned any units in college
  • For high school graduate applicants who completed their high school under the old curriculum, the general weighted average (GWA) shall not be lower than 80%.
  • For Senior students  under K12 curriculum, graduating students GWA of the last three immediate preceding semesters of his/her Senior High School in any Track shall not be lower than 80% or its equivalent
  • Parent(s)/guardian or the applicant must be physically residing the municipality of the region for at least  six (6) months, where the slot of the scholarship program is allotted
  • Parent(s)/guardian must be registered municipal fisherfolk duly certified by the Municipal Agricultural Officer (MAO) or the BFAR regional office in his/her area

WHAT ARE NECESSARY DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS?

  • Duly accomplished and signed FSP application form for the FCEG: 
  • Original or Certified true  copy of Birth Certificate (issued either by PSA (formerly NSO) or Civil Registrar
  • Certified True Copy of Report Card Form 138 or 137 (GWA of last 3 semester of Senior High School is at least 80%)
  • Certification of good moral character from the school registrar
  • Two (2) recent 2×2 pictures taken within the last three (3) months prior to filing of application, colored with white background
  • Barangay/Residence Certificate of the parent(s)/guardian
  • In case of guardianship, affidavit executed by the guardian attesting the applicant is his/her ward for at least five (5) years

3. For FSP Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous People (FSP-ICC-IP)

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS?

  • Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen
  • Any Senior High School graduate or graduating student who’s a member of an Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCS) Indigenous People (IPs) recognized by NCIP
  • Not more than 25 years old at the time of the examination
  • Students who have earned units in college may also apply
  • For high school graduate applicants who completed their high school under the old curriculum, the general weighted average (GWA) shal ot be lower than 75%

  • Duly accomplished and signed FSP application Form for the FSP-ICC/IPS:
  • Original or Certified True Copy of Birth Certificate (issued either by PSA (formerly NSO) or Civil Registrar)
  • Certified True Copy of Report Card Form 138 or 137 (GWA of last 3 semester of Senior High School is at least 80%)
  • Certification of good moral character from the school registrar
  • Certificate of Tribe Membership issued by NCIP within the jurisdiction of Regional Office
  • Two (2) recent 2×2 pictures taken within the last three (3) months prior to filing of application, colored with white background

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS UNDER THE FISHERIES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2024-2027?

All qualified candidates are entitled to receive the following privileges.

1. A full scholarship grant for college studies leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Fisheries

2. Free matriculation and other school fees except dormitory rental and school uniform

3. Monthly stipend of P5,000.00

4. Semestral book allowance of P3,000.00

6. Research/Thesis/Special Problem support of P7,000.00

7. Graduation Support of P1,500.00

8. Scholars with Excellent Academic Distinction:

  1. Summa Cum Laude- P50,000.00
  2. Magna Cum Laude- P30,000.00
  3. Cum Laude- P20,000.00

Top 10 Board Passer:

  1. Top 1: P50,000.00
  2. Top 2 to 10: P20,000.00

How to apply?

All interested candidates must first register through this link http://fsp.bfar.da.gov.ph/#/online-application and submit the necessary documentary requirements to the nearest Municipal/City Agriculture Office or Provincial Fishery Office in their area until August 2024.

Moreover, the schedule of the Fisheries Scholarship Program-Nationwide Qualifying Examination (FSP-NQE) SY 2024-2027 is on November 2024.
